Ganglians!

Let's hear it for local boys The Ganglians! They are getting a lot of attention all over, including a really good review on Pitchfork that must be selling a ton of albums for them. They're playing a benefit for themselves tonight at Luigi's, and Zach Hill jumped on it recently. They're going on an East Coast tour soon and they need money to get there.

How was the show? Was the babe factor high?

The Ganglians were stellar! I hadn't heard them in months and months, they're much tighter and poptastic now. If by 'babe factor' you mean girls in short shorts, then yes, the babe factor was through the f'n roof. It was truly ass soup. Wasn't too keen on Zach Hill's thing, he played the same beat, occasionally interupted by the same fill, for 45 minutes while two dudes made loud noises on guitars over him. If the guitars were playing songs I would've thought, "ok band, great drummer", as it was I thought, "dude keeps playin that same beat for 45 minutes, really?, that's the show?"

The Babelians were great. I love that band. I bought both albums, one on CD cause my receiver is broken so I can't hear the vinyl one yet. Anybody have a used receiver they want to sell me?

I still want Vince to start playing drum solo shows. Or at least, as H'Max suggested, publicly comment on the idea.
