going crazy

This day, month, and year is blowing my mind in too many ways to count right now. One way is that I just found out the finches have a show in sac at the end of the month at fools with the mantles and one of the best lineups I've seen in a while for their record release show in SF. The Mantles are One To Watch for sure and I like the Moore brothers a lot.

My Midtown Monthly article for feb is on romantic restaurants. I'm doing Moxi and Aioli but would like to include a more affordable place, too. Any suggestions?

Review Tamarind, that new Pho place on J st. I went there last night and its quite good. Can't speak for the quality of the meats, but they do have a $6 veggie pho with veggie broth! Hooray. The fried tofu appetizer was so-so.

OOPs. Totally didn't read the part that said "romantic restaurants". Nevermind. :(

Cafe Rolle?
Zelda's?

gbomb

kasbah lounge. just don't order the $5 tea.

I have considered both of those, gbomb and they are both still possibilities. glad to know you agree. kasbah was terrible the one time i went there, but that was right when it opened. what do you think about the food? i was also considering marakkech because what's more romantic than lying down while eating?

Weinerschnitzel. It's the first restaurant I ate at with my boyfriend.

I thought 58 Degrees was kinda romantic. Sharing sips of wine and small plates makes for a nice date night.

loved the food at kasbah when I went there about a month back-- got all veggie fingerfood and snuggled with my sweetie on the cushions -- a really nice memory -- makes me want to go there right now

it was good enough that we bought a gift certificate for my ma-in-law and her new boy toy for kwanzaa

You know Olive Garden is going to be off the chizzain this Feb 14th. Maybe you should investigate to see what all the hype is about. It is voted best Italian restaurant year after year...maybe the greater Sacramento region is onto something. That's how we roll in the 916 babay!!!

Hmmmm... affordable but romantic? There is a new Ethiopian place on Broadway... not sure if it meets the criteria but it might be worth checking out. You never know.

Hey Becky, if you haven't been to Moxie already, order mama's cheesecake for dessert. It's supposed to be one fine cake. I had it once about 6 years ago, but don't remember if I thought it was that exceptional. I wasn't really into cheesecake then.

you were too late with the suggestion, alas. but we had a fine dinner at moxie and a great time.

Once I ate at Moxie and they were out of the cheesecake, so the owner ran out to "mama's" house (apparantly near McKinley) and picked up another. It was worth the trip.
