Welkom op de website van het Hinkelspel. De website is nog volop in ontwikkelin

Wow, here's Meckfessel on Democracy Now. He just sent a letter to Ahmadinejad. Good luck getting his friends out of jail. It was interesting to finally hear his story of why he went camping in Iraq. It almost makes sense the way he explains it.
So here's that beer that I mentioned that you can only get at Whole Foods. DKK was kind enough to get me the cheese that it was brewed to go with. Here's the website for the cooperative in Ghent that makes it. I love how you can kind of read Flemish (and Dutch) without knowing it. It makes it seem more like a made up language. They are both cow's milk cheeses. I loved the pas de rouge, which is very tangy and zippy and salty. The pas de bleu was just a regular blue. It's hard for me to find the nuance in blue sometimes and it lasts on the palate so long that I don't think it goes well with beer. Anyway, a fun tasting and all available at Whole Foods right now.
Tonight is Tyvek and G. Green! At the Hub.

Is there anyone out there who knows if I got banned from the Hub? I guess something I wrote is the sn&r that revealed too much information about the club. That pissed some people off, then Josh Fernandez started throwing bombs on my behalf.

Anyway, nobody wants to beat me up, right?

I think some people do want to beat you up.

Good to know.

"Beat up" is a little strong - but there are some people there who probably aren't too stoked on you at the moment.

Got it. Not welcome. Well, that's what I wanted to know.

No I don't think that is exactly the case. I mean, it's true they aren't stoked, but they are reasonable people. If you want to go to the show, go. That is a better way to clear the air than hiding.

Oh, I wasn't going to go. I was just curious. I don't know what there is to clear up in any case. I stand by the story. I was disappointed that Nick took it down. I didn't intend to fuck with anybody or to bring the wrong attention to the Hub. I like that kind of music, and it seems unfair that something as harmless as the Hub has to operate with everyone skulking around. But I told Larry I was writing a review, and he handed me that beautiful quote about Hogan's Heroes. I don't regret writing what I wrote.

Anyway, tempest in a teapot. Nobody cares about my scruples, I know. I just like hearing myself talk. Bad habit of mine.

It's time to play "quote the not-getting-it goof who still just doesn’t get it!"

"I didn't intend to fuck with anybody or to bring the wrong attention to the Hub."

Yay, mission not accomplished on both counts.

"it seems unfair that something as harmless as (generic music venue) has to operate with everyone skulking around."

Not everybody on the mystery-happy-planet you live on shares the opinion that this stuff is harmless, dear not-getting-it goof who still just doesn’t get it.

"But I told Larry I was writing a review, and he handed me that beautiful quote about Hogan's Heroes."

As he was trying to talk you out of it, how deliciously ironic.

"I don't regret writing what I wrote."

Obviously not, 'cause here you are writing still more. Well here is your "I’m-still-not –getting-it Pulitzer Prize(tm)." Whether you want it or not it is now clearly visible to everyone in the music scene you are supporting by blowing it.

yikes. hmm..if this thread continues i'd like to strongly discourage any "relax. get over yourself" type of comments, because anyone who writes that obviously doesn't have a stake in the continuing health of the venue. it's easy to look at something from the outside that you don't care about and tell people not to get riled up about it, whether it's corti's moving or whatever.

if the-venue-that-shall-not-be-named truly wants to be underground, i recommend they get off Facebook, as it has reached a saturation point on there of late that no doubt exceeds any fleeting mention here on Heckasac or paragraph buried in the insider-baseball column that Sound Advice often can be. In other words, Lazzz, crack down on those promoters/interns.

should i not go if i found about it facebook?

kinda weird that all the venues i've been to in this city can barely muster up a crowd worthy of a show - yet everything has to be so hush hush as not attract too much attention.

I know, isn't that weird? You should move to the Bay Area where every show is crowded because their population is nine times as large as ours and where there are a lot more venues because the city has more to worry about than shutting them down after the first noise complaint.
