No one cares about this so I will use the comments to ask if anyone knows if there is a local place to get any dishes prepared with huitlacoche, or does anyone cook with it at home?

j.k. but for real i am so bored. the only thing good i did today was find out about the awesome food writer jonathan gold from the la weekly who just wone a pulitzer prize. rarely posting local blogger film for tourists posted about it.
That last sentence melted my mind for a minute. But then I figured it out.

Yeah, he was on NPR this evening and he's so funny. He was talking about a donut place in Glendora that serves massive, gooey fresh fruit donuts that have to be served on a plate. I think he said they put about a dozen strawberries in each one.
He wrote a recent column on donuts. He is my new favorite!

Surprisingly, there are a number of bitchy reviews for that restaurant. ignore them. the serving sizes are small, if you're used to eating at Chevy's or something, but people who aren't expecting Hometown Buffet should enjoy it.

wow, you'd think i could handle swapping out 'there's a restaurant in oakland' to 'Dona Tomas in oakland', but no.
