can't think of wine-related title for post

Yay! Two wine bars are going to open downtown this next year! It's about time. The owners of Aoli are opening a tiny one at 16th and L and I guess the other one is at 18th and L? It says 1217 18th st. The second one sounds pretty fancy.

Will they sell MD 20/20?

It sounds like part of that 2nd wine bar is going to be a retail shop! That sucks, I knew someone was going to beat me to the punch opeing a wine shop downtown.

No one ever says dick about Aoli but I think it's a pretty legit Spanish restaraunt. Perhaps it's a bit pricey...Tapas seems to get all the cream.

It just quietly chugs along. I like it too - and I think it's better than Tapa. Of course Tapa has it's charm as well. Unfortunately, I'm fasting until they clear all those birds nests out of River Park so I won't be going to either any time soon.

I dig the food at Aoli and had a good New Year's Eve dinner there last year. But ...

A friend and I were looking for a place to eat around 11 p.m. one night. Tapa the World was played-out by our book, so we popped into Aoli and asked if they were still serving. A waiter checked with the cooks, and then said sure come on and grab a table. We ordered some drinks and placed and order, and then 15 mins. later the waiter is handing us our check and practically rushing us the fuck out the door. We were, uhm, charmed. So fuck Aoli with a sangria glass for taking our $$ and then giving us the boot.

I think the best tapas I ever had were at a place in D.C. -- some cheese-and-duck thing that was divine.
But when I went to compliment the chef it turns out they were just some marinated River Park finch leg meat. I kept the secret until now.

I'm just disappointed to see that there will be no new sushi places opening up downtown.
